A language tutor in your notch
Learn the language from the writing you already do.
Skrib corrects your writing and explains why you were wrong, so it sticks, instead of pasting a fix and forgetting it.
Runs on a local model (free & private), or your own Anthropic / OpenAI key.
Hey all, I'm presenting my new project tomorrow. I'd love it if you could join and give feedback!
Hey all, I'm demoing my new project tomorrow. Come along and let me know what you think!
give feedbacks"Feedback" is uncountable: no plural "s". Say "give feedback", or "some feedback".
It corrects. Then it teaches.
An autocorrector hands you the answer and you learn nothing. Skrib shows the rule behind every mistake and remembers the ones you keep making, so the language actually sticks.
Autocorrect
Replaces the word. You copy it back and make the same mistake tomorrow.
Skrib
Fixes it, names the rule, and flags it next time you slip, until it's yours.
In every app. In any language.
Slack, Mail, Notes, your editor: if you can select it, you can review it. Skrib detects the language of your text and explains in yours.
Your text stays yours.
Run a local model with Ollama and nothing leaves your Mac. Or bring your own key. Keep your last reviews or none at all, and clear your history whenever you want.
Questions, answered.
Do I need to pay for AI separately?
No. Skrib runs free on a local model with Ollama, nothing else to pay. Prefer a cloud model? Add your own Anthropic or OpenAI key and you are billed by them, at cost. There is no Skrib subscription.
Does my writing leave my Mac?
With the local model, never. With your own key, only the text you review is sent, to the provider you picked, on your account. Your keys stay in the macOS Keychain, and Skrib sends no telemetry.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app you can select text in: Slack, Mail, Notes, your editor, the browser. Skrib reads the selection through macOS Accessibility, which you grant once on first launch.
What languages does it handle?
Any language you write in. Skrib detects it automatically, so the same shortcut works whether you are in English, French, or Japanese.
What do I need to run it?
macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon. For the free local model you install Ollama and pull a model; for cloud, you just paste an API key. The shortcut is ⌥⌘Space, and you can remap it.
Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes. Pay once, it is yours, with free updates within the version. No account, no subscription.
