Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Skrib website and the Skrib macOS app. Skrib has no backend of its own: your text is processed on your Mac, or sent to the AI provider you choose, and nowhere else. There is no Skrib server in the loop.

1. Who is responsible

2. The website

The marketing site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or session recording. Visiting it does not create a profile of you. Standard server logs may briefly record requests for security and reliability.

3. The app: what stays on your Mac

• The text you select for review and the corrections Skrib produces are processed on your device.
• Your review history is stored locally on your Mac, up to a limit you set (200 by default). You can clear it at any time from Settings, and lowering the limit trims older entries.
• API keys you enter are kept in the macOS Keychain, never written to plain files, and only ever sent to the provider they belong to.
• Skrib sends no telemetry, usage analytics, or crash reports.

4. The app: what is transmitted

This depends entirely on the model you choose:

• Local model (Ollama): nothing leaves your Mac. The text and the correction never touch the network.
• Your own cloud key (Anthropic or OpenAI): the text you review and the tutoring prompt are sent to that provider, over your own account, to generate the correction. That data is handled under the provider's own privacy policy (see Anthropic's and OpenAI's). Skrib does not receive, proxy, or store this data on any server.

5. Payments

If you buy Skrib, payment is handled by our payment provider, which processes your purchase and, where applicable, invoicing details. Skrib does not see or store your card details.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. The only party that receives the text you review is the AI provider you explicitly configure, and only when you use it. We share purchase data with our payment provider solely to complete your order.

7. Retention

Review history stays on your device until you clear it or it passes your chosen limit. Deleting the app, or using Clear history in Settings, removes that local data. Skrib holds no copy of it anywhere else.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the EEA/UK GDPR), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you, such as support correspondence or purchase records. Most of what Skrib touches never leaves your Mac, so you already control it directly.
